Emily Whitson

Emily Whitson, based in Williamson County, has worked at The Arc Tennessee since 2019 and joined the Family Engagement team in November 2024. She now serves as the Family Support and Training Coordinator. Emily has a B.S. in Accounting but became a passionate parent advocate when her daughter was born in 2010 with Down syndrome. In her current role, she helps families understand their special education rights, provides resources, offers training opportunities, and supports them in navigating the IEP process. Her training includes completing the Volunteer Advocacy Project in 2017, Partners in Policymaking in 2021, and SEAT 2.0 through COPAA in 2022. Emily enjoys empowering families to advocate for their children and helping students develop self-advocacy skills. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, theater, cooking, and true crime.
