Shannon Efteland

Shannon Efteland is based in Knoxville and serves as the East TN Regional Specialist in Family Support for Special Education, joining FESPED in January 2024. With a deep personal connection to the disability community, Shannon brings extensive experience as a parent and advocate. Her role involves facilitating communication between families and schools, creating training modules, and promoting community networking. She finds joy in empowering parents and promoting collaboration among stakeholders in special education. Outside of work, Shannon enjoys gardening, writing, sci-fi, and spending time with loved ones over coffee. She wishes more people knew about the opportunities for meaningful inclusion and support provided by FESPED and The Arc.
